Το μυστήριο της χαμένης Ατλαντίδας αποτελεί ίσως έναν από τους πιο πολυσυζητημένους μύθους ανά την υφήλιο, έναν θρύλο που εξάπτει εδώ και αιώνες τη φαντασία συγγραφέων, ιστορικών, επιστημόνων και εξερευνητών.

Τώρα μια ομάδα ιστορικών θεωρεί ότι έλυσε επιτέλους τον γρίφο. Μετά από ενδελεχή μελέτη δορυφορικών φωτογραφιών αρχαίων ερειπίων ανοικτά της νότιας Ισπανίας, κατέληξε στο συμπέρασμα ότι αποτελούσαν τα τείχη του λιμανιού της θρυλικής πόλης.

Πολλοί από τους αρχαιολογικούς χώρους που μελέτησαν οι ερευνητές ήταν ήδη γνωστοί στους αρχαιολόγους και πιστεύεται ότι κατασκευάστηκαν από τους αρχαίους προγόνους μας και τους Ρωμαίους. Οι ερευνητές της ιδιωτικής εταιρείας δορυφορικής απεικόνισης Merlin Burrows, ωστόσο, ισχυρίζονται ότι βρήκαν στοιχεία που αποδεικνύουν ότι τα κτίσματα αυτά οικοδομήθηκαν από τους μυστηριώδεις κατοίκους της Ατλαντίδας.

Οι πρώτες αναφορές για την Ατλαντίδα προέρχονται από τους διαλόγους «Τίμαιος» και «Κριτίας» του Πλάτωνα, που περιέγραψε γύρω στο 400 π.Χ. έναν προηγμένο πολιτισμό πέρα από τις Ηράκλειας Στήλες (τα στενά του Γιβραλτάρ), μια μεγάλη ναυτική δύναμη που κυριαρχούσε στις θάλασσες 9.000 χρόνια πριν την εποχή του.

Σύμφωνα με την περιγραφή του η πόλη της Ατλαντίδας περιστοιχιζόταν από ένα πελώριο τείχος στο λιμάνι της, διέθετε τεράστιους πυλώνες εισόδου, έναν ναό αφιερωμένο στον Ποσειδώνα και τεράστια κυκλικά τμήματα Γης όπου ζούσαν οι κάτοικοί της.

Μια κατακλυσμική φυσική καταστροφή, όπως ένα πελώριο τσουνάμι ή μια έκρηξη ηφαιστείου, πιστεύεται ότι προκάλεσε τη μυστηριώδη εξαφάνιση του νησιωτικού βασιλείου στα βάθη της θάλασσας.

Πολλοί θεωρούν ότι ο Πλάτωνας επινόησε την ιστορία της Ατλαντίδας για να παρουσιάσει τις φιλοσοφικές του θεωρίες. Αλλά οι ειδικοί της Merlin Burrows πιστεύουν ότι τα πλημμυρισμένα ευρήματα κάπου βόρεια της πόλης Κάντιθ της Ανδαλουσίας, γύρω από το εθνικό πάρκο Donana, που ήταν κάποτε μια μεγάλη λίμνη, ανήκουν στην χαμένη πόλη, όπως κι άλλοι 15 οικισμοί βόρεια και νότια του πάρκου κατά μήκος της ακτογραμμής.

Ο ειδικός στην ενάλια αρχαιολογία Τιμ Έικερς, επικεφαλής της ερευνητικής ομάδας, λέει ότι όχι μονον ανακάλυψαν την Ατλαντίδα αλλά κι ότι ο πολιτισμός της ήταν εξαιρετικά προηγμένος για την εποχή του. Από την εργαστηριακή ανάλυση υλικών από τα σημεία αυτά προέκυψε ότι πρόκειται για ένα είδος τσιμέντου, άγνωστου μέχρι σήμερα.

«Βιντεοσκοπήσαμε σαφή στοιχεία και συλλέξαδε δείγματα που ελέγχθηκαν επιστημονικά σε εργαστήριο στη Μόδενα της Ιταλίας, όπου ελέγχονται αρχαία ρωμαϊκά ευρήματα. Το πόρισμα των εξετάσεων απέδειξε ότι τα ευρήματα αυτά είναι παλαιότερα από εκείνα των αρχαίων Ελλήνων ή των Ρωμαίων και ότι είναι πιο προηγμένα», είπε.

«Ο εντοπισμός και η κινηματογράφηση της Ατλαντίδας άλλαξε τη ζωή μου. Της έδωσ4ε νόημα. Όλες οι επαγγελματικές μου δεξιότητες και το πάθος μου συνδυάστηκαν για τη δημιουργία αυτής της σειράς. Η ανακάλυψη της Ατλαντίδας είναι μνημειώδους σημασίας. Ξαφνικά γνωρίζουμε, δεν εικάζουμε πλέον, ότι υπήρχε ένας τόσο προηγμένος πολιτισμός πριν από τόσον καιρό… Η φαντασία οργιάζει αν σκεφτεί κανείς τις δυνατότητες που ανοίγονται. Υπάρχουν τόσα πολλά που μπορούμε να διδαχθούμε απ’ αυτόν τον πολιτισμό, πράγματα που μπορούν να μας βοηθήσουν στην οικοδόμηση ενός καλύτερου μέλλοντος», είπε ο δημιουργός ντοκιμαντέρ Μάικλ Ντόνελαν, που γύρισε την ταινία “Atlantica” για την ανακάλυψη της Merlin Burrows .

Ο δρ Τζιάκομο Φαλάνγκα, του χημικού εργαστηρίου Μodena Centro Prove, επεσήμανα ότι τα δείγματα που αναλύθηκαν περιλαμβάνουν μια ποικιλία υλικών. «Αυτές οι κατασκευές περιλαμβάνουν συνδετικά υλικά, όπως ο ασβεστίτης. Η παρουσία μαρμαρυγίας, καλίου και άλλων ιχνοστοιχείων αποδεικνύει την τεχνητή ανάμιξη υλικών. Τα δείγματα που αναλύσαμε κατασκευάστηκαν μ’ ένα αρχαίο, προϊστορικό σκυρόδεμα ».

Ενθουσιασμένος δηλώνει και ο μηχανικός διαστημικών υλικών του ίδιου εργαστηρίου, Αντρέα Κάπρι: «Επιβεβαιώνουμε με βεβαιότητα ότι τα υλικά που αναλύθηκαν αποτελούν προϊόν δημιουργίας ενός αρχαίου πολιτισμού με προηγμένες κατασκευαστικές μεθόδους, κάτι που με κάνει να πιστεύω ότι μιλάμε για ένα πολιτισμό με πολύ προηγμένη τεχνολογία.
